LEAVING A LEGACY

Since 2014, RAW has been helping to break the ever-growing cycle of intergenerational offending, educational underachievement, persistent poverty and violence for a group of disadvantaged women (predominantly Māori) and their tamariki. RAW’s legacy is to replace addiction and offending with purpose and prosperity. Your LEGACY can help us achieve that for this generation and the next.

WHAT’S A LEGACY?

Sometimes referred to as a bequest, a legacy is a gift left in your Will to an individual or organisation that you wish to make a contribution to that extends beyond your lifetime. Setting up a legacy is a very powerful and personal way to make a lasting difference in a case that you feel deeply about.

HOW TO SET UP YOUR RAW LEGACY

Setting up your RAW Legacy is easy if you already have an existing Will. Simply contact your lawyer or estate planner to amend your Will with the following information:

PURPOSE OF LEGACY

You can leave a bequest to RAW for “general purposes” or for a “specific purpose”. We will respect your wishes if you leave a gift for a specific campaign, however, because of the changing nature of campaigns and funds available, leaving a legacy for “general purposes” is a good way to future-proof your gift.

There are four ways you can include RAW in your will:

Raw Sum

SPECIFIC SUM

This is a common form of bequest, where a specific amount is written in to your will. We recommend that you review your will regularly in light of inflation and changes to the value of your estate if you choose to nominate a specific sum to bequest.

Raw %

PERCENTAGE OF YOUR ESTATE

You can nominate a percentage of your estate to be gifted. By nominating a percentage of your estate, your donation keeps pace with inflation and your estate value.

estate

RESIDUE OF YOUR ESTATE

This is the money or assets remaining from your estate after it has been divided amongst those you wish to remember. You can specify to gift the full sum, a nominated amount or a percentage of your residue estate.

Raw bene

GIFT OF ASSETS OR PROPERTY

You can nominate to gift a property, home, shares or other assets, allowing them to be retained as a capital investment or to be sold to raise funds. If you choose to do this, we ask that you please contact us first to ensure that we can accept and utilise your gift in the way that you would hope.

NO WILL? NO PROBLEM

Making a Will is not only incredibly important but it’s also easy. To make a Will, there are a number of different option available to you.
